Willow Investments
We build,and we invest.
We build what's worth building, and invest where it's worth it.
Portle
Running every day on its author's own ledger.
VoiceCards
In daily use across 75 countries, on both stores.
AI search
Books and papers, found by meaning at once.
In the AI era, anyone can build.
Development is no longer the barrier it once was. A business model can become a product without the long build cycle, so instead of watching, we turn ideas straight into businesses.
01Build
We build
We build the businesses ourselves and run them end to end. Three lines are going right now.
Investing apps
Portle turns the investment ledger you keep in Google Sheets into a portfolio system of your own, and the ledger stays yours. It recomputes every past day on today's basis, so you can find the earlier moments that look like now and see how they turned out. A calculator for the person making the call, now available on Google Play.
Learning apps
Built with the MonoR Apps team. VoiceCards turns notes, photos, and PDFs into voice flashcards you answer out loud, or listen to with your hands free on a commute. ReviewNotes keeps the problems you missed, builds practice sets around them, and writes fresh questions in the shapes you keep missing. Scripta turns a text you want to master into sentence, paragraph, and full-text writing practice, with AI feedback on every attempt.
AI search
Our affiliate Ten Softworks puts AI agents on top of search. Their search engine reads a question for what it means and returns the right book or paper on the spot, turning a walk down the catalogue into a single pass. It runs in university libraries today, and deploys on-premise over an organisation's own database.
02Invest
We invest
We read the present as the early stage of the AI cycle, and invest.
Thesis
We think we're early in the AI cycle. Rather than chase momentum, we look for companies whose advantage keeps compounding as the cycle plays out over years. That usually points at the ones selling into every build, whoever wins the layer above them. It is a slower read, and it holds up better through a drawdown.
Portfolio
We take direct positions with our own capital in companies that benefit from the AI cycle. Building products ourselves keeps us close to what actually works, and that read shapes where we invest. Shipping something and watching where it breaks teaches more about a vendor than a deck does.
ValueChain
To see who really benefits, you have to know the value chain. So we build ValueChain ourselves, a sourced, cross-checked map of who sells to whom, and use it as the evidence behind our positions. Every entry carries its source and its date, which is what lets a position be argued with instead of taken on faith.
